How long have you been working in costs?

I have been working in costs for 12 years.

When did you join PIC?

I joined PIC in January 2026.

What work do you do?

I am the Costs Negotiations Team Manager at PIC.

I have a Law Degree, completed the Legal Practice Course and qualified as an ACL Costs Lawyer. My role focuses on costs negotiations, drawing on my wider legal costs experience and advocacy background.

Interesting cases

• White and another v Wincott Galliford Ltd [2019] EWHC B6 (Costs), where I acted as advocate for the Claimant before then Deputy Master Friston.
• The matter involved the Claimant beating their own Part 36 offer in respect of hourly rates only. The offer was found to be a valid Part 36 offer, although an additional sum was not awarded as Deputy Master Friston found it would be unjust to do so.

Additional personal details.

Before working in costs, I spent three years living in Shanghai and teaching English as a foreign language. I am also a former Special Constable with Humberside and South Yorkshire Police.

Outside of work, I enjoy playing football and spending time with, and losing to, my two sons.
