Costs Consultant Vacancy
Job Purpose
To be responsible for cost drafting duties and (where agreed) negotiations or advocacy duties in accordance with The Civil Procedure Rules. To ensure that the maximum reasonable costs are recovered within a timely manner for the Client and provide guidance and support to other members of staff in respect of Costs issues. The client will be at the centre of everything.
Key Tasks / Job Responsibilities
Meet Targets as set by business from time to time.
Prepare budgets (Precs H&T), Bills of Costs, Schedules and N260s within agreed Service level Agreements to include:
- Turning Instructions around within set timescales
- Meeting Internal quality standards as to accuracy and technical quality of the work completed
- Compliance with the CPR, client instructions and any directions from the court
Preparing replies to Points of Dispute (where agreed, dependent upon experience)
To assist/prepare training materials where applicable and required to aid the development of other members of staff
To assist/prepare material for social media campaigns as required
Deal with client queries and prepare MI reports for clients where applicable.
Cover for other staff as required
Mentor less experienced staff or new starters where applicable
Be responsible for own continuous personal development, attending internal and external training to keep up to date with new legislation and case law.
To conduct costs negotiations or advocacy work (where agreed, dependent upon experience)
Undertake any reasonable duties designated by their immediate or ultimate supervisor(s) from time to time to meet business needs.
Person Specification
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and preferably Costmaster.
Good Organisational skills.
University degree (2:2) or equivalent qualification.
Minimum of 3 years in Cost Drafting.
Proven Experience of preparing:
- Budgets
- Bills (including Precedent S)
- Schedules
- N260
Court experience desirable but not essential
Working knowledge of those elements of the CPR which are relevant to costs.
Understanding of case law relevant to costs drafting.
Experience of working with case management systems.
Good client care skills.
